Sukoharjo, Central Java (ANTARA News) - Minister of Agriculture Anton Apriantono said that floods had hit some paddy producers areas in Indonesia would not affect the national production target of two million tons of rice this year.
"We have already made a calculation of rice in areas hit by floods and drought," Anton said here on Sunday after handing over of seeds and motorcycles to farmers and those who provide agricultural elucidation in Wonorejo village.
According to him, the recent flood was not so serious as last year`s.
Up to Feb 6, 2007, floods caused some 35,000 hectares of rice fields were dried up, mostly in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam and North Sumatra provinces.
He said regions hit by floods were called on to ask for the central government`s assistance immediately. "We have emergency funds for the regions to solve the problems," he added.
