TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Economic observer, Raden Pardede, has predicted a real threat from agricultural products' price towards the economy in 2008.
According to Raden agricultural products' price will increase sharply next year and escalate inflation.
“The threat that I see coming is agricultural inflation. This is what we must be aware of,” said Raden in Jakarta, Wednesday (19/12).
A sharp increase in agricultural products' price, said this Vice President of PT Pusat Pengelola Aset, will affect everybody.
The greatest concern is that the underprivileged will be affected the most if food prices rise.
“Our concern is the impact on the poor. Food prices in emerging countries affect poverty because the poor are influenced by their nutrition intake,” he said.
