SEMARANG (Jakarta Post) : The Food and Drug Control Agency has sealed off a pharmaceutical factory in Cilacap, Central Java, for allegedly distributing dangerous chemical substances to several jamu (herbal medicine) factories.
"From confiscated documents and equipment, the factory was found to be distributing dangerous chemicals. In the meantime, we have ceased its production and distribution," the agency's chief in Semarang, Maringan Silitonga, said Wednesday.
He said the agency will closely monitor the factory's directors and owners.
"The factory was sealed on Oct. 25 with the approval of our main office in Jakarta. If it does not improve standards within a month and after receiving two more warnings, it will be closed down permanently," he said.
