Siau, Riau (ANTARA News) - Hundreds of monkeys went berserk in the plantations and residential areas of Teluk Mesjid Village, Sungai Apit Sub-district, Siak ,and injured a rubber tapper, who had 60 stitches on him injured arm.
The workers and residents were troubled by the rampaging monkeys and had to stop working on that day.
There were 40 to 60 monkeys which went berserk.
The wild animals also destroyed vegetables and fruit in the plantations, one of the residents, Ridwan said.
The monkeys had even invaded the village and took away chicken eggs, he said.
"This is not the first time that the monkeys went berserk," he said, adding that they also bit a resident in a recent such attack.
The rubber tapper, Juju, had been attacked by around ten monkeys.
