TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The government will continue the reforestation program by sowing seeds from the air. “The government will improve its aero-seeding technique in some provinces of Indonesia, allocating Rp50 – Rp100 billion for the project,” said Forestry Minister M.S Kaban following a meeting with Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla yesterday.
This method is expected to cover 150.000 to 200.000 hectares of land. The targeted provinces include North Sumatera, West Sumatera, South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi. Around four tons of trembesi and sengon buto tree seeds will be planted. Such reforestation technique was implemented in Nganjuk, East Java, in 2006.

Another species that should be considered is paulownia.
Rudy Krisbiantoro, Ch.of Semarang multivalentprima@gmail.com is experimenting with paulownia, the fastest growing hardwood tree in the world.
He has several blogs on the subject

The project is supported by the Enoch Olinga College (ENOCIS) www.enocis.org which has a paulownia project in Panama for peoples of extreme poverty. www.paulownianow.org
