DENPASAR (Jakarta Post) : Officials from every district in Badung regency have been instructed to draw comprehensive and integrated maps of disaster-prone areas.
Badung Regent A.A. Gde Agung told Antara the maps would help the administration prepare for possible disasters.
He said district leaders were also being encouraged to develop other maps, including of areas prone to outbreaks of disease.
The regent made the statement after visiting flood-prone areas on the resort island, which has experienced regular downpours over the past few weeks.
He warned residents to be ready for the occurrence of natural disasters, adding that they should work together to protect the environment by disposing of their trash properly. -- JP
