The Culture and Tourism Ministry plans in April to launch the first-ever “Miss Coffee Indonesia” contest, aimed at selecting an Indonesian representative to run in the International Queen of Coffee contest and to promote Indonesian coffee products around the world.
The contest will take place in Jakarta on April 15-18, and is being jointly organized by the Indonesia My Pride Foundation.
Fourteen provinces will take part in the contest, with each sending two contestants, the steering committee for the contest said Monday, as quoted by Antara.
The winner will represent Indonesia at the 2011 International Queen of Coffee contest in Colombia.
“The 2011 Miss Coffee Indonesia competition will be a tool to promote our various top coffee products and tourist attractions to the rest of the world, through the International Queen of Coffee contest, among other things,” the ministry’s director general for marketing, Sapta Nirwandar, said last week.
