Lebak, (ANTARA News) - Floods inundated thousands of hectares of rice fields in four sub districts, Lebak district, Banten Province, damaging the crops.
"Farmers are estimated to suffer a loss of up to hundreds of millions of rupiahs because seedlings must again be replanted," Dede Supriyatna of the Lebak agricultural service, said here on Tuesday.
The floods affected 614 hectares of rice fields in Wanasalam sub district, 1,081 hectares in Malingping, 25 hectares in Cibadak, and 88 hectares in Cijaku sub district.
Floodwaters reaching a height of up to 80 centimeters submerged 7-14-day crops.
Supriyatna has requested the Banten provincial agricultural office to help local farmers affected by the floods by providing them with seedlings to replant their rice fields.
