Kediri, East Java (ANTARA News) - Social Affairs Minister Bachtiar Chamsyah is scheduled to visit villages located in the disaster prone areas around Mount Kelud, East Java, on Wednesday.
"From Surabaya, the social affairs minister will fly by a helicopter to Ngancar subdistrict, Kediri District, on Wednesday," a spokesman of the Kediri District Administration, Sigit Rahardjo, said.
Minister Chamsyah would visit command posts set up by the Army and the Police to help refugees in Ngancar and listen to a presentation on the preparations for the handling of disaster by Kediri`s Disaster Mitigation and Refugee Handling Unit.
He would later go to an observation post of Kelud volcano in Margomulyo village, Sugihwaras, Ngancar sub district, Kediri District.
"The minister will observe the real condition of Mount Kelud and learn preparations for accommodating refugees," Sigit Rahardjo said.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro was previously scheduled to visit Mount Kelud area, but the visit was postponed.
East Java Governor Imam Utomo visited Ngancar and refugee camps in Wates subdistrict last October 1, 2007.

Volcanic tremors and increased temperatures in the past few days have led to fears of an eruption, and residents have been told to stay away from the 1,731-metre (5,712-foot) volcano. Mount Kelud is 87.5 kilometers southwest of Surabaya, the capital of East Java Province and Indonesia`s second biggest city after Jakarta.
More than 50 tents arrived recently to house refugees should the incident occur. The tents provided by the Health Ministry, would be pitched in several locations, including in Wates, Plosokklaten, Puncu and Kepung. The refugee camps would also be equipped with several public kitchens and logistics centers.
