Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono stated that implementing an eco-friendly development is going to be one of his government`s focus in 2011.
"Apart from implementing a development which can support better economic growth, more employment rate and decrease our poverty rate, I also urged all government officials to make sure that our development is based on an eco-friendly system," the president said here on Monday at the National Meeting 2011 with all ministers and governors.
The president said national development must be conducted without damaging the environment. He urged all governors to act firmly against mining or plantation companies which operation was said to have damaged the environment.
The National Meeting featuring ministers and all governors of Indonesia has been conducted four times since President Yudhoyono took presidency for the second time in 2009.
This year`s theme of the meeting is Accelerating a fair national economic growth which is supported with good governance and good synergy between the central and regional government.
Based on the theme, the government has set several targets which must be achieved in 2011 namely better bureaucratic reforms, improvement of education and health care services and eradicating poverty.
