Landslide kills father and son in C. Java

A landslide on a steep slope hit a house on Monday night, burying and killing Sucipto, 60, and his son Anas Sobirin, 11, in Giripurno Village, Central Java.

Villagers said the landslide, triggered by heavy rains a few hours earlier, suddenly buried the rear of Sucipto’s house, situated directly below the slope, at around 10 p.m.

Local public health center medical officer dr. Tono said the two victims suffered broken necks and had suffocated in the landslide.
