Decreasing number: Back to the wild: An orangutan rehabilitation worker carries a Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii) before he releases it to Jambi forest after giving it some treatment and training to live in their nature habitat in Sibolangit, North Sumatra, Indonesia, Saturday. Environmentalists report the population of Sumatran orangutans is only about 6.500 in their habitat, decreasing year by year by deforestation for the palm oil plantation, hunting and trafficking.
