Malaysian minister expected to arrive in Gorontalo

Gorontalo (ANTARA News) - The Malaysian Agriculture Minister is expected to arrive in Gorontalo on Sunday evening to observe a number of projects related to agriculture and animal husbandry in the Indonesian province.

Gorontalo Governor Fadel Muhammad said that the visit by the Malaysian minister was expected to help bring about a great change in the province`s economic development.

He said that Malaysia and Gorontalo province had established cooperation in animal husbandry since a year ago.

Malaysia has been importing maize from Gorontalo since several years ago but not until this year has it imported cows from the province.

The Malaysian minister is scheduled to conduct an aerial observation of the province`s integrated city of Wonosari, using a helicopter.

The minister will also attend the launch of a maize plantation project and observe a cow ranch in Sumalata, north Gorontalo district and the shipment of 400 cows to be exported to Malaysia at Gorotalo`s Anggrek port.

Several months ago, Gorontalo exported 400 head of cows to Malaysia. "We will export another 400 cows to meet Malaysia`s demand for the animals. Malaysia`s demand for Gorontalo`s cows is relatively high and will meet it in stages," Fadel Muhammad said.
