A strong earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale has struck off Indonesia's northern Sulawesi province.
Geologists say the quake struck overnight around 90 kilometres north-east of the port of Bitung.
There are no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The quake was felt in Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi, 40 kilometers west of Bitung.
The Indonesian archipelago sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire" where continental plates meet, causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
